The Hot Tub Wizard allows you to easily convert any hot tub to mild saltwater. We have found that salt levels below 2,000 ppm with hardness of 300-350 does not cause corrosion like other systems requiring higher salt levels. This salt spa system produces a pure chlorine sanitizer by electrolysis of natural salt (NaCl). Salt is converted to chlorine to sanitize your water, then the chlorine recycles back to salt. The amount of salt needed is low (1500 ppm) and does not require expensive salts or corrosion anodes. Install in less than an hour.

Questions
Why are the salt indicator lights off?
The salt indicator lights will only be on when chlorine generation is happening. The system runs on a 3 hour cycle, of which it will only be on for a portion of the time based on the output level set. The indicator light also shows if salt is high (red), low (yellow) or green (ok). If yellow and red lights are on at the same time, this indicates salt is very high or cell needs replacing. No chlorine will be produced in this condition.
When one of the lights is on continuously, that indicates the system is in the chlorine generation portion of the 3 hour cycle. If the light is flashing, that indicates the system is in BOOST mode.
Why does my The Hot Tub Wizard® saltwater system have a yellow light and not produce chlorine?
The Hot Tub Wizard® is tested before shipping. It is also one of the few systems that offer a method of quickly disconnecting the salt cell so it can easily be cleaned of scale and replaced when it has reached the end of its life. That means you don't need to take the box apart to change the cell which could lead to water damage.
Make sure the salt cell connector is firmly connected. When connecting the salt cell make sure you press the fitting on the cell into the end coming from the control box until you feel a click and that should enable the cell to start working.
Can I convert a regular hot tub to saltwater?
Most traditional tubs can be converted to saltwater, though some may need new equipment, such as a salt system, depending on the tub. Standard components do best with balanced water, and many salt ready tubs use titanium components. Hardness is commonly kept in the 250 to 350 ppm range. See Saltwater Hot Tub Conversion.
What kind of salt do I have to use for a hot tub?
There are several options. Non-iodized table salt, Kosher salt, rock salt, solar salt, pool salt and hot tub salt. Pink salt or Dead Sea salt can also be used but contain other elements that can reduce the production of chlorine. Also, the beneficial minerals get oxidized by chlorine and end up trapped in the filters.
